In 1950, John Bristow, a well known cattle ranching personality and conservationist settled and developed the Sentinel area on the Limpopo river. The area, originally part of the Elwes Block, was formerly owned by the British South Africa Company. It was sold to the Federal Government for its anticipated joint venture contribution in the Jan Smuts Game Park, known as Dongola. The Dongola Park, which Smuts envisioned extending into Botswana and Zimbabwe, was abandoned in 1948. In May 1995, the new South African Government created the LIMPOPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK on the state farm Greefswald. Sentinel has over the years maintained its original wild character and untouched beauty. It was in this environment that Colin Bristow, John Bristow's son, spent his youth and acquired a deep knowledge of the bush, its wildlife and people.

In 1980, a registered safari company based on Sentinel was established and in 1985, Colin took over it's entire management. Colin maintains a passionate interest in wildlife, archaeology, palaeontology, flying photography and general outdoor activities. Today, by utilising and combining Colin's knowledge of southern Africa and the bush, the safari company has been transformed into Adventure Safaris that operate, co-ordinate and organise almost any type of safari activity in Zimbabwe. These activities also include a consultancy component which has already undertaken extensive wildlife management work.

COLIN BRISTOW ADVENTURES specialise in giving you a unique tailormade safari experience in carefully selected areas of Zimbabwe, with people that Colin has known for years and are knowledgeable on their subjects. Together we'll plan your ideal holiday.

Based in Bulaway, Zimbabwe, the operation owns and runs the Sentinel Limpopo Camp on the Limpopo river. The camp accommodates six guests with en-suite facilities and is situated in an environment that abounds in wildlife, history, archaeology and dinosaur fossils. Colin Bristow does not want his guests to feel that they have booked into a hotel with mini-buses. Accommodation is attractive, simple and comfortable. The emphasis is on maximising natural African wildlife interaction, relaxation and fun. Guests are given individual treatment and activities are base on game drives, walking, horseriding and flying (micro-light) and scientific expeditions. All meals are prepared by experienced camp chefs and laundry is undertaken daily. A quarterly newsletter updates guests on camp life and activities.
